Update, September 2022
You can read my original plans for this legacy below. I aborted it after only four in-game weeks, however, because there were two key things I didn’t understand about the Unstable trait back when I got this dumb idea:
- Delusional episodes (that’s the game’s terminology) last 34 in-game hours from start to finish, with accompanying negative moodlets (-20 Out of Sorts * 6 hours, -40 Impending Episode * 4 hours, -20 Delusional * 24 hours) throughout that time, and NO compensating positive moodlets are awarded for preventing or curing an episode. If you’re math-y, you may have been able to work out that this amounts to a possible 4.94 episodes per 7-day Sim week; in my experience, the actual value is never less than 3 and often closer to the upper limit of nearly 5. In other words, it isn’t a sprinkling of delusion, it’s a deluge of it. Here’s a hypothetical for you: Take your next meal and, before eating it, dump a quarter cup of salt over it. Now tuck in. That’s what playing with the Unstable trait is like.
- Being Unstable makes Sims acutely miserable, and they will let you know that. Unless you’re a total piece of shit, it’s impossible not to feel guilty about letting them suffer.
I therefore don’t plan to continue with the legacy as originally proposed below. Inspired by happy-lemon on Tumblr, I may convert it to a No-Rules Legacy. But a legacy using a family trait of Unstable is not working for me, which means that this is now an archive page.
Original preface
Now it doesn’t matter why, but I am friends with some alligators got the idea that it might be fun to do a legacy family with a family trait of Unstable. The rules are over here. Here are the stories, as well as some gameplay notes–those posts I write when I’m too lazy to write story posts.
Be advised: I am often too lazy to write story posts. Besides, I like shit-tallking my own Sims too much to resist breaking the fourth wall.
